Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SolveWise (solvewise.org), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our service. SolveWise is operated by TPatel Finance LLC.

2. Description of Service

SolveWise is an AI-powered homework tutoring platform designed for K-12 students. Students upload or paste their homework problems and receive step-by-step explanations, interactive hints, guided walkthroughs, verification quizzes, and progress tracking. The service is designed to teach students how to solve problems, not just provide answers.

3. Account Types

• Parent accounts are created using an email address and password. Parent accounts manage billing, add and remove child profiles, view learning analytics, and control account settings.
• Child accounts (student profiles) are created and managed exclusively by a parent or guardian. Children log in with a username and password set by their parent. Children cannot create accounts on their own.

4. Eligibility & Account-Holder Responsibilities

To create and hold an account you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older. SolveWise collects the account holder's birth month and birth year at signup and enforces this requirement. Accounts cannot be created for anyone under 18.
• Be the parent or legal guardian of any child you add to the account as a student.
• Accept responsibility for your children's use of the service, including their compliance with these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
• Provide parental consent. By adding a child to your account you are providing verifiable parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for SolveWise to collect and process educational data about that child as described in our Privacy Policy.

Children do not create accounts on their own. Student profiles are created exclusively by the account holder from the parent dashboard, and children log in with a username and password set by the account holder. SolveWise does not ask children for date of birth, age, email address, or phone number — only a first name and grade level.

5. Subscription and Payment

• SolveWise is a paid subscription service billed monthly through Stripe.
• All new subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial period ends.
• There is no long-term contract. Subscriptions auto-renew each month unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account dashboard — no questions asked.
• Pioneer pricing: early subscribers who sign up during our launch period receive a locked-in rate that never increases, as long as their subscription remains active.
• We reserve the right to change pricing for new subscribers. Existing subscribers keep their current rate.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use SolveWise only for lawful, educational purposes. You may not:

• Use the service to generate answers for academic dishonesty (e.g., submitting AI-generated solutions as your own work on exams or graded assignments where outside help is prohibited)
• Upload content that is harmful, abusive, obscene, or unrelated to educational problem-solving
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI system
• Share account credentials with anyone outside your household
• Use automated tools or bots to interact with the service
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the platform

7. Intellectual Property

• The SolveWise platform, including its design, code, AI integrations, and branding, is the property of TPatel Finance LLC. All rights reserved.
• You retain ownership of the content you upload (homework images, typed problems). By uploading, you grant us a limited license to process that content through our AI service to provide tutoring.
• AI-generated solutions and explanations are provided for your personal educational use only. You may not redistribute, publish, or sell them commercially.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

SolveWise uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to generate step-by-step solutions, explanations, and quizzes. While we strive for accuracy:

• AI-generated solutions may occasionally contain errors. We encourage students to think critically about each step.
• SolveWise is a supplemental learning tool. It is not a substitute for classroom instruction, professional tutoring, or a teacher's guidance.
• We do not guarantee that every solution will be correct or complete. Use the service as a study aid alongside your regular coursework.

9. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. Our privacy practices are COPPA-compliant.

10. Account Suspension and Termination

• You may cancel your subscription and close your account at any time from your dashboard or by contacting support@solvewise.org.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including abusive use, uploading harmful content, or attempts to exploit the platform.
• If we terminate your account for a violation, you will not be entitled to a refund for the current billing period.

11. Limitation of Liability

SolveWise is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will always be accurate.
• TPatel Finance LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
• Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TPatel Finance LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email. The updated terms will be posted at solvewise.org/terms with a new effective date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of San Diego County, California.
